If ain’t broke don’t fix it…

Has anyone seen the commercials? "However-You-Want-It Frappuccino Blended Beverage" from Starbucks. The signature frozen summer drink is now changed into a hot mess of flavors, toppings and shots. Yea, I mean if dignity didn’t already stand in your way, as soon you can walk into a Starbucks and order Venti quad soy two-pump sugar-free vanilla dry cappuccino with chocolate shavings.

I used to work at Starbucks senior year of high school and during college (made a lot great friends there that I am blessed to have in my life today). Being at the “Frappe Station” during a hot July day at a tourist stop Starbucks location was cruel and unusual punishment. And I used to be there a lot because of my gift of remembering everything. Customers not knowing the difference between: coffee frap, coffee frappe light, and vanilla bean frappe. If you didn’t have a good barista writing the drinks, IT’S NOT FUN!

To replace the old Frappuccinos, which were PERFECTLY fine, now we have: coffee (regular, double, triple or decaf); syrup (vanilla, white mocha, mocha, peppermint, hazelnut, and caramel); a choice of milk (nonfat, 2 percent, whole or soy); and a topping (whipped cream, mocha drizzle, and chocolate shavings). Coffee-free beverages are also available, including strawberries, vanilla bean, chai, green tea and double chocolate chip.

So when I saw this new “However-You-Want-It Frappuccino” I wondered why Starbucks? However-You-Want-It, isn't that the whole concept of Starbucks already? Why Starbucks, when barista’s are fast, why make their lives more difficult? Now customers are going to ask for Frappe’s that are half coffee, half skim, light on the whip with extra chocolate curls and caramel sauce, in under two minutes during the 4pm rush. Did they also forget that there are customers with the crazy iced espresso drinks! Yes folks, customers who insist on having hot foam in their iced cappuccino despite health department laws that forbid baristas to do so?

Starbucks, I understand you are upset at McDonald’s and Dunkin Donuts for taking your flow, I would be too. But haven’t you heard the saying, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. Best of luck, and good luck barista’s during the frappe 2010 season. At least the happy hour promo for the launch of this However-you-want-it Frappe will end next week, and you guys can actually go to a real happy hour to celebrate :)

While we are on the subject, my favorite frappe drink is the caramel frappe. I keep it simple:

Vacation All I ever wanted......

Another end to a manic Monday, I looked at my calendar and couldn't help but smile. I am so close to my vacation time I can taste it :) First stop Florida to visit one of my dear BFF's in July. Then Puerto Rico, in August for my cousin's wedding.

Already started some swimsuit shopping wishlist! Getting these from Karmaloop.com:

Who is also excited for summer?

Over

I was thinking about the weird week I had + the lessons I learned, and I found comfort in Drake's song "Over". I think anyone can relate to the "aggressive self reflection" Drake states during the chorus:

What am I doin’? What am I doin’?
Oh, yeah, that’s right, I’m doin’ me
I’m doin me
I’m livin’ life right now, man

And this what I’ma do ’til it’s over
‘Til it’s over
But it’s far from over

LOL also helps that Drake is FINE :)

Time for a Fantasy Comic Hero Team Draft

Hi guys! Happy Free Comic Book Day!! As you know I am a comic buff, been writing in and out my own comic book for the past few months now. I thought this would be fun, I always hear about fantasy football drafts. How about a Fantasy Comic Book Team draft? He he, here are my picks and why:

Phoenix- Yes PHOENIX not Jean Grey. She has substance; she made Jean Grey one of the strongest members of the team. She’ll flip a switch in a minute while the guys come in after she’s handled it.

Nightwing the Dick Grayson version- He’s the streetwise person of the team, with training from The Dark Knight but without the attitude. Always knows the best shortcuts and can flip his way out of a situation.

Black Panther- Swag from the motherland and he’s fine, Storm got herself a good man!

Catwoman- Nuff said and Phoenix needs a BFF to chat about the boys.

The Beast-The intellect with the strength of 20 men what a combination.

What are your picks guys?

Welcome to One Creates Oneself

Double tall white mocha. Commute by the 2 train. Purchasing bananas 3 for $1 off the fruit stand. Saying the morning hellos in the office. The morning browse on Shopbop, Just Jared, Refinery29, and the online daily reads aka online crack. Getting into full PR girl mode for the day. Reading the family emails that make me smile as I think about my nieces and nephews. Updating the facebook status as I order spicy tuna rolls for lunch. Reading the day’s WWD. Getting green tea during the 4 pm slump. Looking at volunteer times along with the update on the weekend parties. Drinks with the crew after work. Doing the daily creative writing. Sci-Fi channel and Bravo fix before going to bed.

A nutshell my life, a very good life that I want to share with all of you! My thoughts, activities, rants, praises, and everything in between!

Welcome to One Creates Oneself, the title of my blog is actually part of a great quote by Grace Jones: I wasn't born this way. One creates oneself. I believe whatever I dream. Whatever I dream, I want to do.
Her quote inspired me to start this blog finally, in the future I will be posting up a few stories. Stay tuned!
