Spotlight: nyc PR girls

Hey guys!

Hope everyone is having a productive week, work is busy as I am getting editor requests for fall and doing prep for the next 6 months all exciting stuff!

My morning routine usually consists of follow up emails, reading the latest from Women's Wear Daily, and a new fav of mine: nyc PR Girls:

The about for nyc PR girls is self explanatory, the advice that Adrianna and Meg give is very helpful, motivating and positive. The website feels like one big support group for PR professionals like myself, and a learning tool for anyone considering a career public relations.

Below is the most recent post for growing a thick skin:

It is great to see a blog that gives life lessons that can be used in any career! Thank you Adrianna & Meg for having such an insightful site!

Around The Block

Hey guys, sorry I've been somewhat MIA this past week. Mmmm, Monday is here! The weekend goes by way too quickly! I wore this outfit last Thursday, no special occasion just felt like dressing up as it was beautiful NYC weather!
Dress QI, Pucci Scarf
I love this color block dress from QIColor blocking is one of the top trends for 2013.  This trend has been around for many years, except now the colors are more vibrant and bold.
The key to color blocking is pairing solid color pieces together. As you can see the neutral colors in this Qi dress compliment my pink scarf!

I am finding my pucci scarf my savior during bad hair days! It adds an extra umph to any outfit :)

I hope everyone is having an awesome June, can you believe it's the last week already? Time flies!

If you are in NYC, stop by my job's store QUINN where you can purchase the colorblock dress I am wearing! QUINN is located on 181 Orchard Street between E. Houston and Stanton :) Follow QUINN on facebook here and on Instagram @QUINNNYC.

Hazy Crazy Days Of Summer

Felt like throwing some inspiration your way this morning featuring two of my favorite models Joan Smalls and Liya Kebede LOL I had to add in this awesome Catwoman sketch too! These shots got me inspired to experiment, laugh a lot, and explore this summer and beyond! White dresses, leather accessories, chained jersey dresses, flowers, and wild hair. The images are badass mixed with sophistication!

Have a great weekend!

Weather or Not

Ainsley perforated top, Ash Sneakers, Asos maxi skirt, leather cap from Assembly NY

Photography by Steve Zak

NYC has been a typhoon this week! It's been non-stop working (on very exciting projects), and clutching my umbrella staying dry haha! Personally, I have a love/hate relationship with the NYC rain, the air is so fresh you just want to go to sleep...it is the best sleep, but it sucks when you have deadlines, ha ha! The rain made me turn to casual pieces in my wardrobe... which leads to my Ainsley perforated shirt from the QUINN LES store, my leather baseball cap, and sneakers!  Yes I do wear sneakers lol! I managed to run outside when there was just a little drizzle and snap some pics

Thank you all for the support the past few weeks! If you are in NYC, stop by my job's store QUINN  on 181 Orchard Street between E. Houston and Stanton :) Follow us on facebook here and on Instagram @QUINNNYC.

I am looking forward to having the weekend to relax and celebrate father's day with my family. I hope you all do the same, have a great weekend!

A fashion show with a soft spot

Hi guys!

Hope the weekend was great for you! I had a great weekend, catching up with friend's and learned a thing or two about the radio (more on that in the next post).

Any readers who live the NYC area, please come out this Thursday NYSOM (New York State Of Mind) Hip Hop Fashion show/clothing drive at Covenant House.  Covenant House is the largest privately funded agency in the USA that offers free 24/7 crisis care and on-going support for homeless kids and teenagers. The teens of Covenant House will model their favorite hip hop/R&B artists at the fashion show. I will be volunteering backstage and donating clothes as well. I'm excited to help out at this event as I wanted to do more charity work this year.

There are a lot of charity fashion shows that donate proceeds to children where they would have models or celebrities appear in it in it, there is little or no interaction with the children.  I find it refreshing to see an two organizations hold a fashion show where the children can participate in, it helps their self confidence, and gives them an creative outlet during hard times.

New York State of Mind assists and develops opportunities for community outreach programs such as food pantries and soup kitchens that benefits the
homeless, unemployed and the working poor.

If anyone in NYC is interested in volunteering or donating clothing contact: nysomsocial@gmail.com.

For more information on Thursday's event please click here.

Understated dressing

Clutch: Phillip Noel

Blazer: Urban Outfitters, Top: Forever21, Leggings: Helmut Lang
Photography by Steve Zak

This may be the simplest outfit, but it's one of my go to outfits for a busy week. I've had this electric blue blazer for for a few years, it's my standout blazer. Because of it's color, I kept the rest of my look understated.

Check out these new Helmut Lang leggings! They are basic black, stretch ponte fabric, I have been wearing them a lot! Not that I am anti pants but, it's leggings on crack lol.  Topped off with a rocker shirt and my signature clutch by Phillip Noel. I was all good for my day running around the city in between press requests, errands, and some margaritas at the Lower East Side.

Reminder check me out this Saturday at 2:30 at Xtreme104fm!

Deck your life with art from Meegan Barnes

If it looks expensive, costs more than your rent, and challenges normal understanding, it must be art, right? Not! Upgrade your lifestyle (walls, clothing, Ipads) with stacks of gorgeous art from Meegan Barnes. The unforgettable illustrations are available at Society 6.

I met Meegan 10 years ago when I interned for her at Femme Arsenal when was the designer for the fashion brand. It was the first internship I had and I learned a lot from her and the team.  I always thought Meegan was a very talented artist that was ahead of her time. I looked up to her and still do in so many ways: her talent, confidence, and energy! She was a great mentor to me!

I am happy to see her one-of-a-kind illustrations  sold at Society 6 at amazing price points. Art prints are $40, T-Shirts  & Tote bags are $22, Iphone cases are $35, and stretched canvas is $85.

Here are a few of my favorites! One of them includes her Jack Russell terrier,
Alvin.

To purchase and view the rest of Meegan's illustration's click here:

Congrats Meegan, I miss the Femme Arsenal days!

Vested Interest

Vintage vest, Ainsley Angelica Maxi Dress,  Eye necklace from Pixie Market
Photography by http://www.stevezak.com/
Warm weather is in NYC and it felt safe to switch my closet from winter to summer lol. The NYC weather has been up and down: one day 55 degrees in the morning, the next 90!  As for my closet, it is exploding with goodness! I found a vest my older sister Katika gave me that she wore in her 20's, she always has great style! If you look closely, the artwork on the vest is hand painted and has cowrie shells as an unique embellishment.

It is perfect for the morning commute to the office paired with a basic maxi dress. Simple layering for hot days!
