Kos' NYFW Diary #3: Joy Cioci/Alice + Olivia SS 13

The Little Mermaid meets Daisy Buchanan describes Joy Cioci's Spring 13 collection. The make up was stunning done by my favorite lip gloss brand NARS. A few of my favs:

Very proud of you Joy!

End of the day I had the opportunity to attend Alice + Olivia's Spring 13 Presentation (thanks again Debbie!)  Attendee's were transported back to late 1950's: the vintage coca cola station, the color pallete of red, blue, and yellow,  brought us back to that optimism that we are (not to get into politics) are heading back to with this coming election. Intresting! Rhinestone encrusted bustiers and leather jackets put a modern touch on the retro inspired collection.
My favorite look from the presentation.

Very hectic days for me but so much fun, I am very grateful for these opportunities! I'm attending a few shows but I am also doing market appointments with fellow bloggers at my full time PR gig at Qi/Ainsley. It is great to talk to different members of the business, see their insight and tap into each other's creativity!

Kos' NYFW Diary #2: EDUN SS 13

For those of you not familiar with EDUN, the fashion brand was founded by Ali Hweson and Bono of U2.  Their mission is to bring positive change through it's relationship with Africa and being an innovative creative force in contemporary fashion.

Intimate, extroverted, utilitarian and outerworldly are the words to describe the Edun girl for Spring 13. Layered bralets, pailette side panels, and sequin slouch shorts add a touch of girliness, where deep v's, cargo pants and mix media knits added the edge that we expect from EDUN.

The juxtaposition of hard and soft is shown throughout this collection, what a treat!

I was happy to get a great spot to take pictures, a lot of spectators spotted Alicia Keys and tried to take pictures of her when security told them to stay where they are, when they moved, I moved to their spot ha!

EDUN continues to make progress by bringing economic development back to Africa. The cover of the program reads that styles to be made in Africa or made from fabric sourced from Africa have “been highlighted in bold.” I highlighted two that caught my eye.  The sheer jacquard urban prints took center stage for me as I am not a big print person (it was the sheer factor!)

EDUN is becoming one of my favorite's a lot of the looks I can see myself wearing from the drape chiffon tops to the cargo bottoms.

Look 17 is  such a Kosi outfit:

Black speckle printed mesh knit tank.
Fatigue silk habotai pailette utility pant.

Here is a closer look, photo taken from style.com:
It is refreshing to see a brand change the way women view nature-inspired fashion in keeping up with is modern, well done EDUN

Thank you for the last minute invite!

Kos' NYFW Diary #1: PARKCHOONMOO SS13

Sleek & Chic are the two words to describe the Parkchoonmoo's Spring 13 collection.  Oversized silhouettes, netting, and the color white were highlighted throughout the show.

This look was my favorite!

After the show Akua and I took a snapshot at Lincoln Center our first fashion show was at our day care center over 20 year's ago lol.

I will be doing a post on Edun tomorrow, can't wait to share. Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

The Cast: The Authentic Rock 'N' Roll stop shop

Hey guys

Came across a great NY/Commerce site: The Cast.  The Cast is a lower east side Men's/Women's clothing label and retail shop. It is a go-to for anyone wanting an update in their wardrobe but want something authentic. The brand specializes in leather, denim, vintage, records, and other rock 'n' roll necessities.

I purchased the Pirate Skull Cap tee yesterday, I can't wait to get it delivered this week to use for an outfit post:

A few more of their shirts, Madonna wore the "Bitch Club" tee recently. The prices are great!

They are known for their custom leather creations all made in New York City. I was drooling over this leather vest, that I plan to use my next commission check to get mid October. I love that the item can be personalized from the color, texture and buttons. I plan to get it in black, haven't worked out the other details yet.
As I get older that I want garments that are unique and not what everyone else has but also I can wear 10 years from now. As a professional in the fashion industry and dealing with leather in the past this is a great price for a custom made leather piece :)
Photo taken from the tumblr page of The Cast:

I had two people ask me about this Budweiser bathing suit when I posted on twitter. I hope they make more soon, I would love one myself!

All photos taken from http://thecast.com/, be a fan of their facebook & twitter pages!

Next time you are downtown check out The Cast you won't be disappointed or shop online!
