Tokidoki Storm T-shirt Oh My!

Hey guys!

Had to share my experience last week that kicked off my fourth of July:

Jim Hanley's Universe: Comicbook Central. This place felt like an amusement park! I went with my niece Akua (check out her blog http://thestyleqween.com) and one of my dear friend's Aiesha.

Anyone that knows me knows that I am a HUGE fan of Storm from X-Men, and it is rare to find any memorabilia of her, he he I nearly foamed at the mouth seeing this.

Tokidoki Storm T-Shirt $28

One word: SICK! How refreshing to see a comic book shop that has actual woman's clothes! Proves the point that gals are comic book fans too! So many ways to style this t-shirt: underneath a maxi dress or dress it up with a long maxi skirt and a blazer, leather leggings, or keep it casual with skinny pants and pumas!

I also purchased
X-Men: Giant-Size Vol 1 it's so freaking good! X-Men Giant Size has massive ramifications for two – count ‘em, two – generations of X-Men: I will definitely be paying another visit to Jim Hanley's Universe! I spotted a Wolverine Shirt yesterday that will be my next purchase!

Kosi's playlist to beat the afternoon slump

It’s 4pm where did your energy go? Did it leave 10 minutes after the slice of pizza or when a conference call becomes a scene from the movie 300? Having the typical afternoon slump is the pits and it stings a little harder during the summer.....especially after the fabulous 4th of July weekend.

I was feeling that slump today, so I made an awesome playlist that I wanted to share with all of you.

1) Number One-Chaz Jankel

My Coworker got me hooked on this song. I know the name sounds not recognizable. So I added the clip where all of you would recognize the song, Real Genius anyone? The words are motivating as well when we are not feeling #1 at the moment :)

2) Rock With You-Michael Jackson

Nuff said, this a universal song that brings anyone to a good mood. I always dance at my desk .

3) Break the Chain-Lupe Fiasco

Lupe's new album is always on repeat for me, the beat makes me think about the next weekend plans!

4) We will Rock You-Queen

A universal song that can get anyone hyped: A doctor before he performs a risky surgery, the high school football game, NBA playoffs, and for me finishing deadlines!

What about you guys? What do you do to get out of the afternoon slump? Anyone seeing Horrible Bosses this weekend?

Website Obsession: Nasty Gal

Hi everyone! Hope the July 4th weekend was fabulous to you all! I enjoyed it with my amazing friend’s and family! I felt like a true New Yorker watching the fireworks in meatpacking! Special thanks to the random parking lot security guard that let over 100 people enter the lot near the pier. We got the best view of the fireworks as you can see!

I must say my Tuesday back to work outfit was
perfect for the sticky Manhattan weather! I owe it all to my new website obsession, Nasty Gal Vintage

What I love about this site that it is AFFORDABLE, especially for a girl like me who doesn’t spend a fortune on spring/summer clothes (I tend to do that during the fall/winter months). The Jane Maxi dress that I am wearing is $58!

The site also offers vintage pieces I have been eyeing these since last Monday

Fringed Batwing Cardi

Perfect for the fall with a huge chunky ankle boot

Jungle Kat Skirt

I love my maxi skirts, to me they are so sexy but elegant at the same time.

Happy Summer!

Not raining on my parade!

What a manic but productive Monday! So much going on and it's all good: start of Fall 2011 press season, fashion night out brainstorming, prepping for a very late holiday shoot on Thursday, and my birthday on Friday which I have no clue what I am doing for once.

Midst of this as everyone in the east coast knows it's RAINING, Sunday was cold and Saturday was beautiful. So Monday, I decided despite the weather being schizophrenic, I'm going switch my winter clothes to spring summer!

I already had some spring up, from my personal order from Qi. Happy to say there isn't that much I want to get for spring/summer (Fall is more my season!) just the following:

A new denim jacket
Denim Pencil Skirt

My new obsession is maxi skirts/dresses, I got a great deal on a maxi dress on shopnastygal.com (I will wear for a post later on this week) For spring/summer, I plan on getting these:

Helmut Lang

Alice & Olivia-I have so many stripe tops this would be a great way to dress them up

I am trying to kick up my accessories game, I worship Pamela Love jewelry and plan on getting the Tribal Spike Cuff so I love the color because I can wear it in the fall too:

Moveslightly DIY bracelets

I am also going to get into more color, I tend to go with black, grays, blues, and neutrals. Planning on getting some layering tees in yellow and pink :)

How is everyone else coping with the rainy weather?

Loving some Thor

Saw Thor last Sunday and let me tell you guys, this is a kick ass movie! I was skeptical about it only because Summer 11 moving season seems to be Superhero overkill (Not digging Ryan Reynolds as the Green Lantern, and the trailer for X-Men First class looks like a mess). I love my comic books but some movies (i.e Fantastic Four casting Jessica Alba) make you go hmm, what the hell were they thinking.

Thankfully there is hope, Thor besides the special effects and the direction of Kenneth Branagh (who knew right?) works because it is funny! Yes, I said it funny, I also liked how they tied in the Avengers subplot (did you guys see the cameo by Hawkeye?)

Seeing the movie made me want to get back into card collecting again, I used to do it when I was 10 years old. And I am happy that I work a block away from Midtown Comics on 38th! First trading card set I get will be Thor for sure!

P.S-I will be writing more often :)

M.I.A L.O.V.E.S her her fans

I didn't think I love M.I.A more until I heard about this, a female fan sent in a picture of herself displaying her fingers, which are tattooed with the words 'Born Free' - a title of M.I.A.'s song. M.I.A loved it so much that she promised to get the same one done if she can pull in 200,000 Twitter followers.

"Once we get 200,000 strong I'll get this tattoo!" she tweeted.

It's awesome M.I.A showing love to her fans but also taking a marketing opportunity by the horns.
Below is the tattoo and M.I.A's twitter page

Spring come soon!

Weather in NYC is crazy right now, either it's too cold and not snowing or it's semi warm but there is snow everywhere. Everyone including myself is OVER this weather.

To get out of the winter blues I have been doing the following:

Creating a wishlist for Spring 2011
Planning vacay for Summer 2011
And staying inside.. ha!

I also looked up poems about Spring thought I share one:

Very Early Spring by Katherine Mansfield
The fields are snowbound no longer;
There are little blue lakes and flags of tenderest green.
The snow has been caught up into the sky--
So many white clouds--and the blue of the sky is cold.
Now the sun walks in the forest,
He touches the bows and stems with his golden fingers;
They shiver, and wake from slumber.
Over the barren branches he shakes his yellow curls.
Yet is the forest full of the sound of tears....
A wind dances over the fields.
Shrill and clear the sound of her waking laughter,
Yet the little blue lakes tremble
And the flags of tenderest green bend and quiver

Stay warm everyone, I predict Spring is right around the corner!
