Sorry for the lack of posts, the holiday season the past few days have been busy in the Harris household with parties back to back. I love my family! I am using my week off to relax (well forcing myself to)

Boom, Zap, Pow! New Trailer for "The Dark Knight Rises" is online baby!

Hi guys!

My Monday ended great when my dear friend/model Kimanie posted the trailer for the new move "The Dark Knight Rises".

One word it is AMAZING! On so many levels: the new villain Bane looks scary, plot cohesive, and.... Selina Kyle's/Catwoman (Anne Hathaway's) styling in the movie is so on point. Everyone read the comic books Catwoman is more than the Halle Berry version, she is beautiful, complex, and an anti-hero.

I think it was a good call on Nolan's part to feature just Selina Kyle in the trailer and not her counterpart Catwoman for a few reasons:

  1. Title is called "The Dark Knight Rises"
  2. Focus should be on Batman & Bane the villain
  3. Pics of Anne Hathaway in her catsuit have been posted on the Internet for months.
I highlighted a few images from the trailer and some I have seen online and in magazines. I think the styling/make shows Selina's strength and vulnerability. The styling felt similar to mine nowadays:

July 12th can't come fast enough, already planning a group outing with my dearest friend's to see it! What did you guys think of Selina's style and the trailer?

With a Rebel Yell, We Cried More: Rebel Chic Jewelry Trunk Show

Hi guys!

Just 13 more days till Christmas, and the parties are in full swing! Saturday night I attended Loveday 31’s ugly sweater party. The sweater party also showcased Rebel Chic Jewelry by designer Tisha Brown.

Rebel Chic Designer Tisha Brown
Women who have influenced the world around are the inspiration behind Rebel Chic Jewelry. Women who have dared to challenge the status quo: Grace Jones, Joan Jett, and Nina Simone to name a few.  Each piece of jewelry is handcrafted and made with the finest leather and metals.

The styles that caught my eye were the cross necklaces, I love how the Tish combined metal and snakeskin leather. SICK!

I gave into temptation and purchased the large black cross and started rocking it at the party! Yeah!

Haha! I love this picture of Tish, Ivona (the owner of Loveday 31) and a Loveday employee rocking their ugly holiday  sweaters.

I didn’t have an ugly sweater but I was in a festive mood and rocked my mom’s green sweater.  Lately, I have been combining my sweaters with odd bottoms like the leather shorts below.

Shorts: Madewell, Bag: Alexander Wang Coco Duffel, Sweater: Liz Claiborne

Me and my niece Akua posing for the camera.

Be a fan of Rebel Chic Jewelry on facebook, Tish’s jewelry will get you into the holiday spirit and ready for 2012!

Dear Santa: Kosi's Holiday Wishlist

Dear Santa

I have been good all year (maybe there was a few incidents where there was too much alcohol that influenced my actions) but let's not rehash that.

In light of my good behavior, I have composed a list of items I must have for Christmas.

"Must" maybe a strong word but it's 2011, better to be direct and not beat around the bush, right? I made this list very simple to understand:

GIVENCHYMedium Leather Nightingale
so chic and an investment piece

My own Starbucks card that lasts me till December 2012
I can't live without my coffee in the morning and next year will be a very positive/demanding/productive year for me. Caffeine will help me through it ;)

Helmut Lang Slit Maxi Skirt-so versatile
A custom Iphone cover from Esty.com
An Ipad, nuff said.

An all inclusive trip to San Diego Comic Con, July 2012.
I can't get enough of my comics!

Pamela Love Tribal Spike Cuff

That is my list Santa, also keep my loyal readers as beautiful and awesome as they already are!

LOL so that is my letter to Santa Folks.

The holiday's rock! Not for wishlists but for everyone to remember that these are times to be grateful for what we all have and look forward to a New Year!

Knee Deep Vintage at Loveday 31

Hey guys!

Holiday season has begun! My Thanksgiving weekend was a blast! I paid a visit with my friend Aiesha to Loveday31 Vintage Boutique in Astoria, Queens.

Once stepping into Loveday31, it feels as if your transported back in the 70's due to Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones, David Bowie and Led Zeppelin, playing in the background. This boutique is a true gem in NYC!

Pictured above is Ivona, the owner of Loveday31 and a dear friend of the family! I had the chance to ask her a few questions before the afternoon rush came in:

How did you get started in the vintage business?
I was the buyer for Screaming Mimi's NYC for many years.

What made you want to start your own vintage boutique?
My hood was lacking alternative shopping. There was a void to be filled and I wanted to fill it.

How do you buy for your store? Do you attend shows like the Rosebowl?
What do you look for when purchasing vintage?
I usually travel out of tri-state area. Texas is one of my favorite places for vintage. When shopping I look for an item to be  in perfect condition and to make sense with current trends. Don't get me wrong, even a seasoned buyer will occasionally make a mistake...hence the sale rack outside.

What makes Loveday31 different from the consignment shops
that claim they have vintage?
All pieced at Loveday are carefully selected and curated. 99% of our merchandise is at least from early 90s late 80s and prior decades. A few new items find their way to our racks but that's because I like them.

Define what is vintage to you?
Vintage, by my standards is at least 10-15 years old.

What advice would you give anyone looking to open a boutique?
Whether it's vintage or regular?
Do your homework and be prepared to work your ass off. All the success and all the mistakes are your own.

Do you find that people are buying more vintage due to the economy?
People buy vintage because current fashion is inspired by vintage. They love it because it's unique,  one of a kind, made well and won't fall apart in your next wash. And you don't have to worry that the girl at the party next to you will be wearing the same thing.

Aiesha was debating between the knit dress she is wearing or the green bag.. she went with the green suede lol green is her favorite color!

I went with a fur vest, below is a picture of me wearing it the next day:

Rebel Chic earrings, check out their holiday trunk show on December 10th, at Loveday 31!
Follow Loveday31 on facebook here. I will be covering the Rebel Chic trunk show next week!

Autumn in the Air

Hello everyone!

Hope you all had an awesome Thanksgiving! I went to Staten Island where my sister and brother-in-law hosted one of the best Thanksgiving holiday celebrations I have experienced in a long time.  The weather in NYC is mild, especially for this time of year, not complaining about that!

My Thanksgiving outfit was dressy, casual, and chic and I got to kiss a frog. Unfortunately he didn't turn into a prince lol but I am thankful for the amazing day with my family.

To breakdown my outfit:

Sweater: Qi
Leggings: Uniqlo

Special thanks to my guest photographer, Ptah Hotep of Tehuti Images who portrait and fine out photographer.

How was everyone's Thanksgiving? I am thankful to all of you as always!
