The Most Wonderful Time of the Year....

It's that time of the year again, the time where emails are bombarded with evites and subject lines reading "Fall 13 & RSVP" start coming up in my personal email box, it's New York Fashion Week (NYFW) for short!

Above are a few of the evites I got so far, I am excited about Charlotte Ronson and Duckie Brown which the first menswear show I am going to.

Since I have busy workload at my full time job I am pacing myself this year, there are so many shows to go to and little time but grateful to be going to a few shows. This year, I decided to pack a survival kit consisting of:

  1. New Camera my friend Alaina recommended the Panasonic Lumix ZS19.
  2. A pair of Yosi Samra ballerina flats rolled in my bag-I plan to wear my heels but going to different locations within 2 hours.. break out the flats!
  3. My Ipad-easier to jot things down in between shows.
  4. Nars Orgasm color Lip Gloss.
  5. Vitamin C-let's not forget it's winter here in NYC and everyone including myself has been under the weather.
Can't wait to share my experience again all of you, have a great week!

Pow Wow

Leather Jacket Muubaa, Dress: Motel Alexa Maxi Dress

Photography by Kareem Montes
This Pow dress from the brand Motel has been something I've been dreaming of for the longest time. The comic book vibe plus my leather jacket staple are the perfect combo I must say! There are a lot of comic book related dresses in the market and some of them can look to gaudy or they are not work appropriate. The "Pow" applique is just enough to please any female comic book lover! What fun!

Out on the Weekend

After a very busy work week (sales meeting one day at 7:30am and a Fall 13 photoshoot for the new brand launch at 8:30am the next).  I was very happy for the weekend to come!

Here is the new project I am working on at work, it's a new brand we are going to launch in the next week or so:

My friend Valerie invited me to the premiere of the movie "Wait In Room 219" a project which she as assistant director of. It was great to see her and catch up, congrats Val!

I had a slight wardrobe malfunction before attending the premiere the dress I was going to wear I realized needs to be fitted, in a panic I checked my closet and found a lifesaver!

Me and Val-Dress: ALC, Shoes Rag & Bone
Aiesha came with me, she looked amaze! She is wearing a vintage rabbit fur coat from ETSY, Qi Asymmetric Dress, Aerosoles heels.

Friday night, I attended the Knicks game with Rachel here is us after the game posing with Tyson Chandler. I felt like a little kid looking around the garden, buying a souvenir lol.

Before the game started

The Knicks lost but it was great being at the garden, hanging with Rachel and talking to other fans. I will be going to another game very soon!

Sunday, I am doing some work (always like this for the month of January). Was supposed to shoot today but have to play catch up, outfit post will be definitely this week. First two weeks of 2013 were memorable.

How is the weekend going for everyone so far?

On The Ball: Sporty Dressing

In the fashion world, the word "sporty" doesn't necessarily have the most stylish connotation usually.  Visions of baggy athletic shorts, shelf-bra tanks, and sweatproof sunblock invaded my mind years ago. It is great to see designers
embrace the word "sporty".

In NYC 2013, the word "sporty" was also given a new definition due to NYC basketball, it is very exciting to watch! I never seen so many female fans interested in basketball! Weather you are a NY Knicks fan or Brooklyn Nets fan, I think we can all agree being "sporty" is playing in a whole new court.

I am very excited to be going to my first Knicks game this Friday at Madison Square Garden (yep I'm a Knicks fan, I thank my brother Nei for that). I always liked basketball even wore a few jersey's in junior high school and played a few weeks in my junior high school's female basketball team.

I had to figure out what to wear for Friday's game, it's major on so many levels: 1st game, and the Knicks are playing the Chicago Bulls. The last game was intense (google it people). I was happy to see other brands/websites embrace the sporty revolution in fashion.   Sporty no longer referrs to the Jane-Fonda-legwarmers of years past. Thanks to subtle infusions of color and surprising pairing of unlikely materials like leather and suede, the results are a ramped-up, stylish look. My style is eclectic but chic, mixing a leather hat with an oversize orange tank, grey sweats, and pumps? Looks divine, I must say!

The board represents my interpretation of sporty, I tend to focus more on color than the actual silhouette adding accents such as a leather cap for me is a must to keep it fresh and modern!

Have you guys embrace the sporty revolution, how do you make it your own?
