Kos' NYFW S14 Entry # 2: Mara Hoffman & Charlotte Ronson

Hey guys!

I spent my Saturday at the tents, it was great running into people who you have been threatening to get a drink with, ha! But seriously it was great!

My first show was Mara Hoffman, she is the queen on exotic prints and swimwear in my book. "There's a Rainbow Warrior moment happening here,” she said backstage before her show started.

I love that term, happiness all day!  I was so honored to get an invite, I was running super late but managed to get there in time and snap a few pictures.

Also, I've included official pictures of my favorite looks:

Saturday evening, I attended Charlotte Ronson's S14 presentation, the collection was inspired by the playful souciance of a French gamine. The collection was tongue-in-cheek-sweet with the urban city as the perfect background. Ronson's girl this season is a mix of pretty tomboy with motor jackets and overalls. She add a hint of femininity with cut outs and floral prints. I personally loved her handbags, they screamed out fun and it's been a constant theme for designers for NYFW, for the clothes to have fun.

I hung around Lincoln Center and was happy to have my dear friend Vicky join me.  We both had the same idea with keeping our outfits chic but minimalistic at the same time. Vicky's jacket was everything!

What was great about Mara Hoffman and Charlotte Ronson was that they are two contemporary brands that included models from different ethnicity's in their shows. Few contemporary brands I've seen at fashion week don't have much variety in the models, yesterday was refreshing.

The theme for Spring 14 is fun, happiness, variety and not taking ourselves so seriously, I can dig it!

Kaleidoscope Dream

Photography by Steve Zak
Right now, all I feel like throwing on before running out the door is a dress! This blue and white kaleidoscope printed dress was a steal a few years ago at $20! I threw it on when I was running errands and meeting a few friend's last weekend. I played it down by adding with this brown fedora and leather bag from Foley & Corinna. Still crazy to think I had that bag since 2006, it was my first designer bag I brought after I graduated college! Nevertheless, it felt nice to just stroll the park, take in the sun, and see inspiration from my fellow New Yorker's! Have to keep the creative juices going!

Kos' NYFW Diary #2: EDUN SS 13

For those of you not familiar with EDUN, the fashion brand was founded by Ali Hweson and Bono of U2.  Their mission is to bring positive change through it's relationship with Africa and being an innovative creative force in contemporary fashion.

Intimate, extroverted, utilitarian and outerworldly are the words to describe the Edun girl for Spring 13. Layered bralets, pailette side panels, and sequin slouch shorts add a touch of girliness, where deep v's, cargo pants and mix media knits added the edge that we expect from EDUN.

The juxtaposition of hard and soft is shown throughout this collection, what a treat!

I was happy to get a great spot to take pictures, a lot of spectators spotted Alicia Keys and tried to take pictures of her when security told them to stay where they are, when they moved, I moved to their spot ha!

EDUN continues to make progress by bringing economic development back to Africa. The cover of the program reads that styles to be made in Africa or made from fabric sourced from Africa have “been highlighted in bold.” I highlighted two that caught my eye.  The sheer jacquard urban prints took center stage for me as I am not a big print person (it was the sheer factor!)

EDUN is becoming one of my favorite's a lot of the looks I can see myself wearing from the drape chiffon tops to the cargo bottoms.

Look 17 is  such a Kosi outfit:

Black speckle printed mesh knit tank.
Fatigue silk habotai pailette utility pant.

Here is a closer look, photo taken from style.com:
It is refreshing to see a brand change the way women view nature-inspired fashion in keeping up with is modern, well done EDUN

Thank you for the last minute invite!
