Autumn in the Air

Hello everyone!

Hope you all had an awesome Thanksgiving! I went to Staten Island where my sister and brother-in-law hosted one of the best Thanksgiving holiday celebrations I have experienced in a long time.  The weather in NYC is mild, especially for this time of year, not complaining about that!

My Thanksgiving outfit was dressy, casual, and chic and I got to kiss a frog. Unfortunately he didn't turn into a prince lol but I am thankful for the amazing day with my family.

To breakdown my outfit:

Sweater: Qi
Leggings: Uniqlo

Special thanks to my guest photographer, Ptah Hotep of Tehuti Images who portrait and fine out photographer.

How was everyone's Thanksgiving? I am thankful to all of you as always!

Star Style: Joan Smalls

Hi guys!

Sorry for the lack of blog posts! I was battling a crazy mosquito bite on my lip (yes my lip, it wasn't pretty) and playing catch up at work.

I saw a mini preview of the Victoria's Secret fashion show and was happy to see my girl Joan Smalls walk the runway:

Joan is so different from models like Tyra Banks & Naomi Campbell: SHE ISN'T A DIVA and she isn't throwing phones at maids lol. There is something extremely cool when she walks the runway or when she is featured in ad campaign. It's refreshing!

Isabel Marant Runway
Her campaign photos have so much attitude and not doing the typical "fierce" look
Joan's style reflects her attitude (similar to mine): relaxed, easy and not contrived. She has a tomboyish spirit with a mix of femininity that is rare to see in African American/Latino Models. Here are a few of my favorite looks!

So effortless and chic: mixing denim, lingerie, a pair of combat boots, finishing with a pop of color

Outside Lincoln Center wearing Rag & Bone's feather legging. I got my own pair this past weekend! Outfit post coming soon!

Who are your favorite models of the moment? Please share!

Psyched for Synderela Spring 2012!

Hey guys!

NYC just started to get a dose of real fall weather but I can't wait to rock the styles Synderela 2012  lookbook!! Synderela is a new dress collection that has a mix of charm and sass (like me!).

The designer behind Synderela is my dear friend Yalenis Cepeda. I met Yalenis 6 years ago when she hired me as an intern at LaROK. Yalenis' design background also includes Elizabeth & James and Charley 5.0.

What I love most about the collection is the versatility. I think that is missing in clothing collections today.  All the styles are unique and don't compete with each other. Here are a few of my favorite looks:

Photography by Johan Salvador

It is already a great perk working in the fashion industry and seeing collections a season before it debuts but it is also an added bonus when the designer is a dear friend. Yalenis I am very proud of you!

Follow Synderela's facebook page to get updates! The collection will be sold in speciality stores nationwide.

Boo Cool?

Hey guys

Hope everyone is having a happy and safe halloween. In NYC we were hit with winter weather, "Snowtober" as a few blogs were calling it. It didn't stop She Hulk from making her presence lol:

I got the dress at Comic Con a few weeks ago

So excited!!!

Look at She Hulk go lol

Only two more months and 2011 is history, started my to do list of things I wanted to do before the end of the year: volunteer at a soup kitchen, finally go on that flying trapeze class, the list goes on and on.

How did everyone else spend their Halloween?

Once Upon A Time Season Premiere Review

Witches, A princess in distress, and creatures spinning gold no I wasn't reading my preschool books. I was watching ABC's premiere of Once Upon A Time, the show is based on the old fairy tales with a twist which catapults Snow White (played by Big Love's Ginnifer Goodwin), Rumpelstiltskin and an array of princes, dwarves and evil queens from 19th-century fairy tale land to a small Maine town called Storybrooke.

The Evil Queen’s curse that ends all happy endings, which entails of stripping all fairy tale characters of their identity and memories, and bringing them into our world where they remain ageless but stuck living completely shitty lives.  But before the curse is able to take effect, Snow White gives birth to a daughter named Emma, who is destined to break the curse once she reaches the age of 28.  Baby Emma is transported and raised in foster care and grows up into a jaded bail bondsman with a sick red leather jacket. A boy named Henry appears on Emma’s 28th birthday, revealing himself to be the son she had given up for adoption and that she needs go with him to his hometown of Storybrooke, Maine. Emma does so, only to return Henry to the woman who raised him, who happens to be the mayor of the small New England town, who also happens to be The Evil Queen herself.

I always find it funny that the Evil Queen in every Snow White film/series has amazing skin? Just a thought.

Back to the review, I liked how the show goes from the present real world to the fairy tale world of long ago {The show was developed by the creators of Lost, go figure}

Snow White's character pleasantly surprised me. The preview's made her seem like the typical "save me princess"

But when we see her next, she immediately points a sword at the evil Queen while trying to protect Prince Charming (as they are getting married!).

It's nice to see the writers not making Snow White a clueless princess waiting to be rescued. Her greatest quality and curse is that she is so giving but she is aware of the drama around her.

I heard Kristin Bauer (Pam from True Blood) will be playing Maleficent (The witch from Sleeping Beauty) in next week's episode. I wonder what she is going to look like?

I think Once Upon A Time has a lot potential. I just hope the creators of Lost don't drag it out.  Did anyone else see the show? What were your thoughts?

NY Comic Con 2011

Hey guys!

I went to NYC Comic Con Saturday 10/15, it was my first time going and it was AMAZING. I am definitely going all four days next year, there is so much to cover. I purchased a few T-Shirts, Comic Books, and Jewelry from Her Universe a new Star Wars women's apparel/accessories line.

A women's collection dedicated to Star Wars and Sci-fi! I found my new Go-To for Tees! I got a few pieces of their jewelry that I will feature in an upcoming post.

The energy at the Javits Center was refreshing, I usually go to the Javits Center for fashion trade shows, etc. It was nice going for something more lighthearted.

He was playing Yoda's theme from the Empire Strikes Back

Me getting my cowboy on

I brought the She Hulk dress lol wearing it to work on Halloween
