On Wednesday night, I was in the process of checking my Facebook on my iPhone when I learned of the death of Steve Jobs. My iPhone! A device that I can not live without. The device that Jobs created.
Does the death of Steve Jobs put an end to Apple's dominance in creativity, and innovation in the cell phone computer world? Jobs made technology not about science and math, but about how we live our daily lives: how we listen to music, how we communicate, how we view product. He made gadgets stylish to hold and essential to own.
Mac or Pc? it's the perennial debate for anyone who wants to buy a new computer ( or win an argument). Passionate and valid. I was raised a Mac girl, thankfully by my Dad. There was always an apple computer in our home.
In 2005, Jobs revealed some of his thoughts on death in a heartfelt commencement address at Stanford University. He told the graduating class:
"Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary."
Thank you Steve Jobs for creating technology that improves our lives. Thank you for encouraging us never to take short cuts.
Thanks for visiting my blog.
