Be awesome by watching The Awesomes

If you are looking for a break from the reality and cheesy award shows check out The Awesomes! The Awesomes, an adult animated show about a superhero league, created by Seth Meyers (Saturday Night Live).

Superhero Mr. Awesome, leader of the the league of caped crusaders known as The Awesomes decides to retire to outerspace. He is looking to close the league or give it to a deserving successor.

But the patriarch has doubts with his son, Professor Doctor Awesome (a.k.a. Prock). Prock doesn’t have any superpowers. He can't fly. He doesn’t have superhuman strength. And he doesn’t have heat-ray vision or telekinesis. He does have a weird "stopping-time ability” and a semblance of intelligence that he inherited from his mother. 

“I went to med school and I became a doctor, I went to law school and I became a lawyer,” Prock says. “But Dad, all I’ve ever wanted to be is a superhero.” 

Mr. Awesome agrees to have Prock take over and leaves.  Prock, then has to assemble a team. The team he assembles is a rank of rejects that include: the Frantic (Taran Killam), a cuckoo reincarnation of The Flash; Sumo (Bobby Lee), a who transforms into a crazy wrestler; Gadget Gal (Paula Pell), an inventor; Impresario (Kenan Thompson), a conjurer; Hotwire ( Rashida Jones), a woman with a knack for all things electric; and Muscleman (Ike Barinholtz). All the heroes are misfitted and flawed (Muscleman is a meat head, Impresario has mommy issues, and one of the team members might be a mole).  Bill Hader plays Dr. Malocchio who is The Awesomes' arch enemy.

The show is Justice League meets the Incredibles meets Bob Burgers. Syfy and MTV didn't greenlight the series which is a shame because their shows they have at the moment can use a show like The Awesomes that is innovative in it's concept. 

The Awesomes can only be found on Hulu new episodes premiere every Thursday.
